Alamo City Comic Con Turns Three This September

The heat has set in here in North Texas. Most people think of summer in Texas as literal hell on earth, two months of extreme heat where you can cook eggs on the concrete. Geeks take refuge in movie theaters and in front of the TV to spend two months beating the latest video games and binge watching that last season of their favorite shows, all while counting down the days until the day Alamo City Comic Con starts.

This year’s show will mark Year Three of the ever popular event. With past attendance reaching 73,000, the con is reaching massive popularity in record time. The layout of the con has even changed year after year to accommodate the influx of fans. Year One used one major room for the show, while Year Two expanded to the entire Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center with over 200,000 sq. feet of room. We personally feel this con has the potential to reach the size and notoriety of a SDCC and NYCC over the next couple years – becoming a “must attend” for all the major studios and comic book companies for their Midwest fan bases that are unable to attend the East and West Coast shows.

At this point everyone knows, or should know, who is behind this massive undertaking. So what can be said about Alfredo “Apple” De La Fuente that hasn’t been said already these past three years? His vision and ability to see how much San Antonio needed a Comic Con is on display every year. With his past connections with DC and media relations with SDCC, he’s pulling some pretty big names to his show. This years line up include Stan Lee, Ron Perlman, Michael Rooker, Ming Na Wen and so many more!

If you have the opportunity and some vacation time, we highly recommend coming to San Antonio to experience a Comic Con like none other. Apple and his team create a massive show for your weekend, but still somehow deliver a intimate experience at the same time. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

Oh, and they have great A/C to escape the lingering heat.

Alamo City Comic Con will be at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio Texas. September 11th-13th. Check out the ACCC website for more details and tickets to the show.
