Alamo City Comic Con 2015: Video Walkthrough

Alamo City Comic Con enters it’s third year, and it’s huge. We provided a walkthrough video to show just the scale of the show. Enjoy and keep an eye out for even more coverage from ACCC

Alamo City Comic Con Turns Three This September

The heat has set in here in North Texas. Most people think of summer in Texas as literal hell on earth, two months of extreme heat where you can cook eggs on the concrete. Geeks take refuge in movie theaters and in front of the TV to spend two months beating the latest video games and binge watching that last season of their favorite shows, all while counting down the days until the day Alamo City Comic Con starts.

This year’s show will mark Year Three of the ever popular event. With past attendance reaching 73,000, the con is reaching massive popularity in record time. The layout of the con has even changed year after year to accommodate the influx of fans. Year One used one major room for the show, while Year Two expanded to the entire Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center with over 200,000 sq. feet of room. We personally feel this con has the potential to reach the size and notoriety of a SDCC and NYCC over the next couple years – becoming a “must attend” for all the major studios and comic book companies for their Midwest fan bases that are unable to attend the East and West Coast shows.

At this point everyone knows, or should know, who is behind this massive undertaking. So what can be said about Alfredo “Apple” De La Fuente that hasn’t been said already these past three years? His vision and ability to see how much San Antonio needed a Comic Con is on display every year. With his past connections with DC and media relations with SDCC, he’s pulling some pretty big names to his show. This years line up include Stan Lee, Ron Perlman, Michael Rooker, Ming Na Wen and so many more!

If you have the opportunity and some vacation time, we highly recommend coming to San Antonio to experience a Comic Con like none other. Apple and his team create a massive show for your weekend, but still somehow deliver a intimate experience at the same time. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

Oh, and they have great A/C to escape the lingering heat.

Alamo City Comic Con will be at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio Texas. September 11th-13th. Check out the ACCC website for more details and tickets to the show.

Fan Expo Dallas 2015: Podcast Wrap Up Show

Want to know what we thought about Fan Expo Dallas this year? Of course you do! Doug and I ventured onto the showroom floor to find the biggest and best of the show. Listen in and let us know what you thought of the convention.

Industry “Experts” say we are at the peak of Comic Cons. They say the bubble will soon pop – yet Texas proudly calls BS on those claims as convention goers have never had it better here in the Lone Star State. Fan Expo Dallas expanded its showroom floor by 150,000sq feet, and expected a growth of 25,000 fans this year. With guests like Carrie Fisher, Stan Lee, and Robin L Taylor, there was no chance of falling short of that goal. We will have to wait a few days to get the final numbers, but it looks promising.

We loved our time at the convention and one of the best things we got to experience was the cosplay – Fans dressing as their favorite characters from their favorite franchises. There is something intimate about it. When someone puts in so much work, so much blood, sweat, and tears into an outfit that would normally take a team in Hollywood to pull off, it’s breathtaking. It’s always an honor to be able shoot some photos of everyone. With that we bring you this year’s gallery. We couldn’t make it the whole weekend, but I hope you enjoy what we have to offer.

Comicpalooza 2015: Walk Through

If you missed out on Comicpalooza this past weekend, then you missed out on one of the largest cons in Texas. Fear not though, as we were able to get into the convention early on Sunday morning to bring you a time-lapse of the show room floor. This beast of a convention took 23 minutes to walk every aisle. I think our phones said we walked 11 miles a day. Our legs and feet wouldn’t argue that. Enjoy the video!
