Check Out Vanity Fair’s Images from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’!

Vanity Fair teamed up with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz to bring us some exclusive images from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new images reveal some new characters, including Lupita Nyong’o in mo-cap for her space pirate character, Maz Kanata, as well as confirming Adam Driver is in fact Kylo Ren. Check out the images below, as well as the short behind the scenes video of the photo shoot!

New Look at the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars Episode VII

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot has just released a little teaser showing off the “new” Millennium Falcon built for the upcoming Star Wars movie. The camera travels passed the Falcon, showing off the intricate details in the design and… wait… is that what I think it is?

This isn’t the first Star Wars/Dark Knight/Superman crossover we’ve seen from Bad Robot – it started this summer at SDCC with Man of Steel‘s director Zack Snyder posting a picture of Henry Cavill posing as a ‘SuperJedi’.

Not long after, Bad Robot responded with their own crossover, The C3Ped Crusader;

Recently, Snyder announced that the new Batmobile had been stolen from the set in Detroit. The story went viral, several news stations ran the story, and it was eventually debunked by the Detroit PD. Turns out, the stolen Batmobile was a continuation of the back-and-forth between Snyder and Bad Robot. Earlier this week, Zack Snyder posted this tweet, showing they had caught their thief;

They may have caught the thief, but it looks like Bad Robot has taken off with the Batmobile attached to the Falcon. Wonder how Snyder plans on getting it back this time…

Star Wars Episode VII X-Wing Officially Revealed

I love this film already, and I have yet to see it. JJ Abrams has posted another video today. He talks about a charity but its very difficult to listen when the slow reveal of a full size X-Wing is being shown off! Below is some information via Slash Film about the X-wing as well.

Notice that the Star Wars Episode 7 X-Wing looks different that the ships we saw in the original trilogy:

The circular design on the wings are more accurate to the early Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars concept art than what we saw in the films:

Others have noted that the design also looks like the Z-95 headhunter from the extended universe:

But note, the official press release specifically calls the ship an “X-wing”. Also notable is the very dirty look of the ship, which to me indicates that the Star Wars are on going and that the rebels aren’t at a place on top when Episode 7 opens. This might be too much of an assumption, but I feel if its been years of peace following the take down of the empire, the ships would look nicer and more polished.

Update: The official Star Wars twitter account confirms this is in fact a Star Wars Episode 7 X-Wing and not a Z-95 Headhunter or another ship (thanks Jordan):

@CDCanimation It is in fact an Episode VII X-wing, not a Z-95.

STAR WARS Episode VII Cast Revealed!

We’ve been talking about the cast of Star Wars Episode VII for over a year now. We’ve thrown out speculations as to who will/won’t appear, rumors as to who made certain deals to reprise old roles, as well as new faces and what characters they may or may not be playing. It’s all felt a little abstract though, like maybe we’re all living in a dream where a new Star Wars film was being made – until today. The cast of Episode VII has finally been revealed. It’s happening. It’s finally actually 100% happening. This is real, and holy crap are we excited.

Here’s the official statement;

The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

They also released a photo of the cast sitting together in a circle with director J.J. Abrams via StarWars.com

It’s so exciting seeing the cast together. Harrison and J.J. talking. Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels together, Peter Mayhew and Andy Serkis looking over the scripts in front of them. It’s surreal. Absent from the photo, however, is George Lucas… Maybe he’s the one who took the picture?
